civilised country we are but jail is too good for the alleged london sword murder if found guilty.

You'd want our criminal justice system to be run like China??? Seriously??! 🤯😵‍💫
when it comes to cutting heads off ****s like Fred West/Peter Sutcliffe /Shipman/The Moors Killers/David Fuller and a whole lot of others its a stout YES....SERIOUSLY!

Give me a reason why any of the ****s on this list shouldn't be hanged.

So many times I read/hear people say when a criminal is put inside that he will be 'sorted' by other inmates or even mention of the wardens putting their bit in.
It happens very rarely indeed because the wardens are there to ensure the inmates are looked after and if there is a problem the warder is reprimanded and can even lose pay should such an incident happen on their watch.
This. Indeed inside prison it counts for little what you did to get in. What counts is how tough you are now that you are in. Will he "get sorted"? Looking at his physique and level of fitness I doubt it.

Because then our justice system would be based on the exact same thing that they are guilty of - killing someone. Yes yes, I know they are guilty & their victims were not. But, imo, if our justice system is based on whether or not 12 people think you should live or die, then we'd be in a far worse place than we are now.

When a serial killer, rapist, cannibal bastard of the worst kind is caught red handed with body parts of ten victims in his fridge, are we to we accept that whatever had gone down was according to him that "I didn't really mean it" sob sob "it started because the neighbours cat killed my bunnykins when I was eleven years old" and thus we accept his crap and give him lodgings with TV and tucker for 40 years. Dreaming.

The average man that comes home and finds his whole family, missus, kids and dog slaughtered will want nothing less than the rope imo. That I believe is how the average man should react.

But when it comes to an alternative BB what would you want?

Oh yes btw many perpetrators of heinous crimes taunt victims or families from jails for years....not in my own book.

Bring back the manilla.

James Hanratty
What about him?

Notwithstanding the 'rights and wrongs' of the Capital Punishment argument (for the record I am not for it).

He was executed in 1962 for rape and murder. There then followed decades of argument about whether he was innocent.

James Hanratty's body was exhumed in 2001 to extract his DNA. His DNA was compared with other DNA extracted from, firstly, mucus preserved in the handkerchief within which the murder weapon had been found wrapped and, secondly, semen preserved in the underwear worn by Storie when she was raped. DNA samples from both sources exactly matched James Hanratty's DNA.

Death Sentence
Counsel for Michael Adebowale, Abbas Lakha QC, told the court the killing was "horrific" but was not a case "where the offending is so exceptionally high that Mr Adebowale must be kept in prison for his life".
He said: "The right and proper sentence is one which does leave open the possibility of release in the future. Any other sentence would be inhuman."
Addressing Adebowale during sentencing, the judge said: "I am persuaded that the combination of your lesser role, your age and your pre‐existing and continuing mental condition mean that it is not appropriate in your case to impose a whole-life term."

"inhuman" FFS send him off somewhere.
Mr Abbas Lakha QC needs to be assessed as to where his own sympathies are.

The court ruled in 2002 that a DNA test conclusively proved Hanratty's guilt beyond any doubt.

We know the answer, amazing that some still do not.

10 May 2002 — ... "beyond doubt" that James Hanratty was guilty of the murder for which he was hanged 40 years ago.
Also Valerie Storrie who he raped and shot five times, leaving her alive but paralysed, always insisted that they had convicted the right man after she picked him out in an identity parade. Even though she'd spent many hours with him, getting a good familiarity with his voice and looks, very few wanted to listen to her, treating her as unimportant. DNA proved her correct in 2002. As far as I know, she never received an apology from those who campaigned so energetically and loudly for a long dead man.

I am not in favour of the death penalty, for practical and principle reasons. However, I'd like to see us leave the EHCR so that these monsters can't game the system and get an easy life in prison.

Well you made my point for me.

The post I replied to was "We need the Death Sentence in place again some crimes are 100 % sure ! Also be a deterrent!"

They hanged a guy in contentious circumstances, not 100% sure of his guilt in 1962. What happened to innocent until etc etc. He is deid so nobody was in a hurry to have another look but eventually in 1997 they had to admit that the conviction was unsafe.

It was only in 2001 that the crown had evidence to prove he was guilty, yet they decided to hang him 39 years earlier. Just because they are finally proven correct 40 years later does not make the original convition safe or the sentence justifiable. Could have been the other way about, no great triumph for criminal justice in DNA finally getting them off the hook

Derek Bentley 100% bang to rights was he?
