You'd want our criminal justice system to be run like China??? Seriously??!Guilty verdict in China means that you are an organ donor in 20 minutes after the gavel has come down, yippee.

well out of date by a few decadesI understood that the death penalty is still in place for two crimes in the UK, first treason and secondly arson in His Majesty's Dockyards, perhaps I'm adrift and out of date?
when it comes to cutting heads off ****s like Fred West/Peter Sutcliffe /Shipman/The Moors Killers/David Fuller and a whole lot of others its a stout YES....SERIOUSLY!You'd want our criminal justice system to be run like China??? Seriously??!![]()
This. Indeed inside prison it counts for little what you did to get in. What counts is how tough you are now that you are in. Will he "get sorted"? Looking at his physique and level of fitness I doubt it.So many times I read/hear people say when a criminal is put inside that he will be 'sorted' by other inmates or even mention of the wardens putting their bit in.
It happens very rarely indeed because the wardens are there to ensure the inmates are looked after and if there is a problem the warder is reprimanded and can even lose pay should such an incident happen on their watch.
Because then our justice system would be based on the exact same thing that they are guilty of - killing someone. Yes yes, I know they are guilty & their victims were not. But, imo, if our justice system is based on whether or not 12 people think you should live or die, then we'd be in a far worse place than we are now.Give me a reason why any of the ****s on this list shouldn't be hanged.

James HanrattyWe need the Death Sentence in place again some crimes are 100 % sure ! Also be a deterrent!
What about him?James Hanratty
James Hanratty
We know the answer, amazing that some still do not. There then followed decades of argument about whether he was innocent.
Death SentenceWhen it was never in doubt and we, the taxpayers, just keep paying!!

Lee Rigby murder: Adebolajo and Adebowale jailed
Michael Adebolajo is given a whole-life term and Michael Adebowale is jailed for a minimum of 45 years for the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in Woolwich.www.bbc.co.uk
Guess I must be above average then. The average man that comes home and finds his whole family, missus, kids and dog slaughtered will want nothing less than the rope imo. That I believe is how the average man should react.
Apparently now that DNA has been used he in fact did do it. Despite the odd Peter Whatisname in the many documentaries.James Hanratty
Counsel for Michael Adebowale, Abbas Lakha QC, told the court the killing was "horrific" but was not a case "where the offending is so exceptionally high that Mr Adebowale must be kept in prison for his life".Death Sentence
If that's average, then I've never been happier to be a weirdo!!
there are punishments worse than death but i they arent used now eitherGuess I must be above average then.![]()
Also Valerie Storrie who he raped and shot five times, leaving her alive but paralysed, always insisted that they had convicted the right man after she picked him out in an identity parade. Even though she'd spent many hours with him, getting a good familiarity with his voice and looks, very few wanted to listen to her, treating her as unimportant. DNA proved her correct in 2002. As far as I know, she never received an apology from those who campaigned so energetically and loudly for a long dead man.The court ruled in 2002 that a DNA test conclusively proved Hanratty's guilt beyond any doubt.

10 May 2002 — ... "beyond doubt" that James Hanratty was guilty of the murder for which he was hanged 40 years ago.
Well you made my point for me.What about him?
Notwithstanding the 'rights and wrongs' of the Capital Punishment argument (for the record I am not for it).
He was executed in 1962 for rape and murder. There then followed decades of argument about whether he was innocent.
James Hanratty's body was exhumed in 2001 to extract his DNA. His DNA was compared with other DNA extracted from, firstly, mucus preserved in the handkerchief within which the murder weapon had been found wrapped and, secondly, semen preserved in the underwear worn by Storie when she was raped. DNA samples from both sources exactly matched James Hanratty's DNA.
