Ok thought I’d ask the SD hive mind… Looking to respray a mechanically excellent and rust free classic car. Anywhere you recommend? This is a rather pricy and rare car I bought as an investment so looking for a top job. Ideally north of England or Scotland or near Guildford. Thanks in advance

What car as someone who does that type all the time will know them inside out.
I did 7 mgb's in a row (not show std) but came out quite well, by the time I had the last one in paint it was done in half the time of the first.
Good luck

If that doesn’t work out I can point you towards someone who restores vintage cars to show level and has worked for many of the larger collectors stateside (seven digit to priceless value vehicles)

They are uk based

When I was restoring old RR , E types, Bristols Bently Stags TR4-6 MGBGT Lotus ETC if I got asked how much finished I would turn them away . A full strip down for a concourse refinish was not a thing to rush the strip down could take weeks then to find all the part or have any chrome stripped let alone wheels glass trim carpets rolling gear power train engine ! it just take time to do it right or 3k blow over with water base and push it out the door if thats what you fancy . Perception of a full restoration is what the owner see's at the end ! The work is preparation and attention to detail thats the costly part of it .
I'd go to a few Porsche meetings and find the best in class and ask who did there's.
done a few Targa's if the pop out hard top fits like a wet fish you may need it putting on a jig and the body putting back as they had a habit of over the years bending at the inner wing to A pillar its no Biggy and an easy fix around 1 hr on a Carbench.

Guildford way have a chat to Max500 - Welcome to Max500 LTD,

Max is a very good mechanic who looks after a lot of wonderful vehicles and has done many rebuilds. He has a number of people who can do the specialist jobs such as respraying.

Based in Twickenham, so close enough to Guildford, these are the boys to go to - Mr Berry & his team are the business.

That is more like it... guess it will be a quote plus whatever they find as cars can be like a dating app...looks good but you never know the state of the chassis until the underseal come off lol
