Classifieds Rules?

The classifieds on this forum seem to be a bit like the wild west at times, with posts like PM'd mate with an offer, sometimes a few folks might have done the same in a short space of time.
Other forums have a simple rule that everything must be done on the open forum and the 1st to say "Yes please" gets the item, then the private messages with payment details etc start.
Also, some sort of feedback system might be good as well for when you get messed about with someone saying they have posted an item 2nd class and it must be down to Royal Mail, but then offer a refund when pushed.

When I see an advert followed by a post or several posts that states 'PM sent' I often wonder is it a PM asking for more details , an offer to buy or just advice about the ad.
I have seen some adverts with several 'PM sent' posts after it then quite some time later 'Still for sale' or in some cases 'Sold'
PM Sent would be more useful if it stated pm sent with offer to buy or whatever the PM was for.
Just my opinion ;-)

One of the reasons why whenever I have had something advertised for sale on here (In the past) I always state "First to say Yes will get it". Then when everything is sorted (Payment etc via PM) it is no problem and only takes a few seconds to mark it as SOLD!
That way I have never had any problems and everyone knows where they stand!

A lot of posters / members fail to read PM's, don't know why, but I will post on the thread I have sent them a message, AND the messaging system is private isn't it?:-|

I agree and do often state first to say on open forum gets first dibs, saves aggro with potential I pm'd first etc etc plus any general questions can help other forum members.

If a member needs to withdraw from a sale/purchase then doing openly helps others members also.
