As the site has grown exponentially over last year or so, Classifieds seems to have taken over from a few of the internet sale sites such as optics / firearms etc, If you place an ad as an individual in the morning, yours can be four or five pages down by late afternoon .... I realise it would be more work for Alex, but how about separating shotguns / rifles / airguns, Thermals from glass? Just a thought.

It is a forum by default so it is always tricky to find things that work for doing sales.

If we split Firearms, for example, then we would have the problem of the majority wanting to just choose the ‘default/all types’ because it quicker or they didn’t realise it split etc. and if we force people to choose then we have the problem of making sure they choose the the right one e.g. does a 10 shot shotgun go under Shotguns or Rifles etc.

Checking Classifieds could take the same or longer because Firearms has split too.

Using ID words (#rifle, #shotgun) etc. would work, I think, because then it would still be under Firearms default but it would need custom coding.

Finding your own sales thread is very easy to do under ‘Forums->Your threads’

I definitely think that we should have a separate section for non-screwcut rifles with wooden stocks
It would be a nice place to just scroll through and dribble.

To add to your comment Ken, (I’m not referring to your adverts by the way), but sellers using advert titles with the basic details in them e.g. ‘BRNO .308 Rifle for sale’, rather than just ‘Rifle for sale’ or even only ‘For Sale’ would help everyone. As would changing the status to ‘sold’ when applicable.

Could do as some of the auction sites and label firearms according to FAC
No FAC
Section1
Section 2
Section 5
And perhaps split glass form electronic optics

But realistically the main issue is posts with bland generic titles "reduced" "scope for sale" and repeated "bumps" and "ttt" clogging up page 1

I’ve just spent a good hour soaking in the Dolly Tub.
While there I’ve spent the whole time going through my classified adverts and deleting a LOT.

We have to keep adverts for a period of time (in case there is an issue etc.) which is why they're only 'soft deleted'.
