Alright

Just wondering is there any tips for getting that waxy/grime of dog run panels??

Been meaning to ask this for a while as got panels of varying ages from 10+ years old to 3 years old so would be nice to get them all up to a similar spec.
There not bad but just that greasy coating of the dogs coats, its the bar panels i've got.
I mustt admit they are a wee bit worse than usual as been struggling for water to my kennels this summer as on its own private supply so long periods with out a hose or pressure washing.

Is there a detergent or degreaser or even hydrochlrite ( must admit never ever used it but heard good for patio slabs and would be well rinsed before dogs anywhere near)

Cheers

I'd say hire, or borrow, a proper steam cleaner - like a pressure washer but heats the water first. I wouldn't use anything that's acid based as you'll run the risk of eating away at the galvanising zinc rendering the panels prone to rust in the future.

I would use a neutral detergent - cheap version of fairy liquid with warm water and elbow grease. You shouldn't need acid or alkali as you will risk corrosion if not rinse correctly. Warm detergent solution should do the trick.

I have a similar problem with a galvanised dog bench.
I use this stuff on my pick up and am going to see if it will loosen any of the ground in grime.
Failing that, a bucket of warm water and biological washing powder and a deck scrubber might be better.

Cheers folks.

Funny i did think about using car shampoo. But can see the theory behind the biological washing powder.
Will get a brush and some elbow grease onto them too, was hoping for a lazy way just soak and blast with power washer, but to be fair even on a car a power washer isn't the best at getting rid of that thin layer of grime.

I'll stay well clear of any acids or alkali's then.

Google “Rhino Goo” and “Rhino Shine” use it all the time on vehicles etc. Great at removing grease/oil and ingrained dirt etc. The goo is for the removal and the shine leaves a showroom finish tho obviously you won’t use that on the kennel!
Ps. Careful which “Rhino Goo” you purchase…. Anything from a zoo BEWARE!!
