Clothing reccommedations

Army surplus long johns under a lined pair of the trousers of your choice, and 100% cotton socks inside fishermans wool socks.

Upper part is layers, but you can't beat having a woolly jumper as one of those layers.

Fallen a sleep in the high seat a few times when layered up as above.

Enfield Spares makes a good point, fishermans bib and braces can be be effective and good value. Your local fishing shop may be worth a quick look around.

Flecktarn camo from ebay. Pants all year, parka in winter, shirt in summer. Cheap as chips. Ex army softy/softie over the top if sitting in a high seat. Pack small, put them on when you get to the high seat.
Parka very tough, mine has enough space to layer according to conditions.

if your on a budget and your not worried about them being waterproof then get the army surplus softies and use tem as a underlayer over what ever you already use and if you want water proof then give the ridgline pintail trousers a look i have both and general use the ridgline and find them very warm and theyve never leaked and i think uttings have them up for £50 at the moment

I use a Keiss heated vest which runs off a rechargeable battery pack when competing (clays) in the winter and I also used it, day in day out for work (telephone engineer). Crashed my motorcycle in it and had it cut off me by the paramedics, sowed it back together and still going strong.

It gets so hot it can burn. If you run it at just enough to keep you warm and not cook you, you can get a few hours out of a battery. You can also buy additional or bigger battery packs (not cheap!)...or carry a 12v battery around with you :-D

Yup, heated jacket. Nothing else will do. Nothing else will touch it. I've had mine for 20 years. Used it all over Europe on the motorbike then started using it with batteries on high seats. You will still be up there when people who don't suffer from the cold get off because they are frozen. Merino thermals, heated jacket, fleece over that or snug pack on top with waterproof jacket on top. Good fleece hat and good gloves.

I have a green fleece sleeping bag liner style of ansitzsack cost me 19 euros that I pull on over my winter kit when I am settled in an open high seat, kept me snug for 4.5 hours last night.
