Butchers, Doctors and Vets. Butchers make a mistake, Sell it. Doctor makes a mistake, Bury it. Vet makes a mistake, thanks for the card . Take this as tongue in cheek please. My vets spot on.

Several years ago.my 5 Yr old cocker bitch developed problems so off to a small animal practise I went
I was met in reception by lovely young receptionists of what a lovely dog what's her name yadda yadda yadda cocker was fussed and cosseted weighed then we met the vet who after a while suggested suspected renal failure, so cocker kept in and a set of blood tests done at this point I said no pet insurance I'll be paying had a very Frank conversation with the vet explaing she was a working dog not a pet and that if it was a hopeless case I'd make the call
Long story short the blood tests came back as basically no kidney function outcome was couple of weeks max ok I said I'll come and get her ,oh it's too late now ! she'll have to stay another night but I want to try her on abcxyz drip overnight next morning I was told she was much improved and he wanted to do more blood tests
Long story short 4 days and nights in the vets every morning being told she was improving then an evening call being told she'd relapsed but it was too late to collect her now
In the end I just went and collected her and asked for an itemised bill of treatments medicines and costs it was eye watering and it was suggested I buy xyz drugs and 100 quid a bag special food
Turns out after several heated conversations with the head vet in the practise what was happening was she was being put on a drip every evening and the fluids were alieviating the symptoms and that's why she was improved every morning
Now I happen to have a good friend that works in paediatric medicine of the renal kind I showed them the itemised bill and was told the iv drips that had been used were in fact human spec drips but the price I'd been billed for was x10 the price they were purchased for in the hospital !
The whole episode left me with a very bad taste in my mouth 1stly my bitch had 4 days of prodding and poking in a strange place and the outcome was evident from the 1st day in the vets 2ndly I'd been asked to pay for treatment and drugs accomadation etc that was all unwarranted
In the heel of the reel she lasted another week or so and a buddy whose a large animal vet came and pts in her bed at home
Went to my vet who looks after three of our dogs - spent a fortune with them over the years and always received good timely but expensive service - no complaints
My last experience was not so good.
Senior vet gave me a verbal guide of £800 for a 15 minute op - Seems expensive but ill live with this.
Went in three days later for his injections this time with a junior vet and asked to book him in. The cost now was £1200. Of course i queried this and left them under no illusion how i felt.
Comparing this scenario with that of taking a car to a garage and receiving the same discrepancy in a quote the garage would undoubtedly and rightly so be labelled cowboys.
The original vet came back saying they were now prepared to do the op with a ceiling price of £800
Too late im already with new vet with a quote of £750 - following the op they told me it was £730..
Thats some distance with costings and if looked at as a percentage pretty shocking

A owner of a vet centre local to me his native language is Spanish, a customer of his spoke Spanish (English chap) heard the owner say to his son (in Spanish) charge him more as he looks like he can afford it.
So the customer wrote that on the customer review page lol
Nice one. Used two in Pembroke which runny nose or splinter every visit was an injection & antibiotics to go home with! Tenby Vets are the best in our area, no question
