Commercial transport of weapons

I am, finally, soon, about to be able to bring my weapons from Germany to Scotland. I, hopfully, have all the paperwowrk and certificates need, when I begin transport.
My question, to all who travel to and from Europe, who travel on "Lufthansa" or "KLM", only, is: Do they allow the transport of weapons as special luggage?
I have not transported any weapons since 1996, when I brought a .338 Winchester Magnum and a .30/40 Kraig back with me, from the US.
I realize things have changed a great deal since then and I know that, if I remove the bolts and breakdown the shotguns, I will only have expensive clubs to ship, but I will, still, need permission, from the airlines, to transport them.
Shipping them between two International licensed Gun Handlers is the best way, but finding one, in Germany, is easier said than done; although my search is, still, on going.

I recently tried to bring rifles from SA. I know it’s not Germany, yet it might be helpful to you. It was a two legged flight SA to Zurich and then Zurich to Heathrow 2 hours later. Everything was fine till I was about to take off from Zurich….. Swiss informed me that the rifles would be returned to SA as Swiss no longer holds the permit to fly Rifles into the UK. After A LOT OF hassle and homework I got in contact with the home office as well as customs and the outcome was explained to me that if you want to bring Rifles to the UK permanently…..Thy recommend BA, when I enquired why this recommendation, their reply was “BA is the only company allowed to fly rifles into the UK permanently”
I did ask why “recommend” it then why not just SAY so

Thanks Hunter300. My best guess, for the "recommendation" of "BA" is because BA is Britian. In my opion, BA will not fill the bill for what I need.
I am trying to make contact with the Army MWR, in Weisbaden to see if they can help. I ma Army (Retired) and eligible for their services, so, as soo as I can get in touch with them, I wil know more.

Whilst I'm far from an expert in this field, I can't help but think that driving with them would be a lot less dicking around.

If he is still doing it I’d recommend Richard Whiteley aka Gunrunner. A more pleasant & professional person I have yet to meet

I'd be getting in a car and driving to Gemany to collect the guns and bring them back.
It would be quicker, probably not that much more expensive, and lot less chance of hassle

Thanks for the tip. I will look into them when I go next week. The FO told me it takess 16 weeks, so I wil have to wait until Sept. to move things forward. No worry, I have been without them for, about two decades, so what is a few weeks?
