Commission wallet in progress

Working on the next one, not a commission but as I've been asked and few times about an rfid blocking one I've decided to have a go, I'm waiting for the blocking material to turn up but in the meantime I'm getting it as ready as possible

This is a mix of buttero and Pueblo and I've take the chance to experiment a little. The top card slot is actually the same buttero as the main body section, but I decided to buff it using mink oil to darken and I quite like how it's turned out, it seems to give it a bit of character

For now, stamping and gluing is done where I'm able to

Thanks Tim, I agree the darkness of the green help reduce the brightness of the orange to the point it doesn't look to comical
I think a bright orange detail looks good against an olive green background. I don't think you need to worry too much about trying to reduce the brightness of the orange.
I have an olive green canvas backpack that I use for stalking, and when it was new the metal zip pull tabs rattled a lot, so I removed them all and replaced with cord loops. Just happened to be bright orange because that's all I had, but I noticed straightaway that it was a colour combination that works well.
I also notice that the olive green "darn tough" socks have orange detail in the form of a contrasting band around the top and a small logo. Again, the colour combination works well.

This is how it turned out and that's true it does tend to look quite nice

The rfid material is glued, and the first stitching to hold in place done, then it's time to cut it down to the final size and sand/burnish the edges i won't be able to get to once attached20250414_221230.webp

Finished the experiment wallet, the only thing I'm not happy about is some of the edges where I'd cut the shielding material a bit long which meant having to try and cut it all back to be able to sand the leather once it was together, it's still pretty smooth but just doesn't look quite as nice as usual, a lesson learned for next time to cut the shielding shorter. That being said, overall the wallet looks pretty decent but will go at a discounted price as seems a shame to waste it

Next to work through is going to be some black, navy and Ortesina pueblo leather for some cardholders. Not sure how many I'll be able to pull together with what's left yet but am thinking an all black, black and navy and then navy and Ortesina. Once they are all cut I can have a look at what works and what threads I want to use

So far one full cardholder with of black has been cut

Glued and ready to stitch which I'll probably do tomorrow once i decide on the colour of the thread, it will either be grey, orange or black i think. If anyone thinks they want this before either have a chance and has a preference let me know

Just as an addendum to this......the above wallet landed this morning (delayed by the public holiday!) and very nice it is too, well packaged and with a very tasteful seal to keep the wrapping in place. Now to start filling it and getting it ready for action! Many thanks to @T.eddie :tiphat:

Glad it got to you okay mate and hope everything fits in there okay!

The next one being worked on is a mix of pueblo and ponte belly.

The pueblo is Tabacco for the exterior and the T slots, with siena for the middle and finally ponte belly for the front card slot which gives it a real rustic feel. Looking forward to how this turns out. I've also added the copper material for the rfid shielding into this again to see if I'm able to cut it shorted and keep a nice edge, so far so good

Coming together nicely with the first full.stitiching done, while the kids are dancing around like nutters in front of me

next is to stitch the other side, then do the edges and then finally, sand, burnished and bevel the outer edges before stretching the pockets which will lighten the stamp slightly as well as make it more comfortable.for the cards to go in

Current work in progress

The top is a mix of navy pueblo leather and natural glazed avancorpo (horse) leather, stitched with blue thread. The avancorpo is thing but durable, this will make the overall bulk of the wallet a lot less

The 2nd is a brown buttero interior and will have an Ortesina pueblo exterior, stitched with a brown thread

I'm hoping to have these both finished by the end of the week and am very much looking forward to the end result
