This is exactly what is needed to get people involved and have stalking be part of the community. So many people, even some on this forum, seem to want to keep it "exclusive, for professionals etc etc" rather than help people get into stalking. The more people do it the greater the voice.

So, getting back to the OP, I think this is the ideal route to getting stalking recognised as a vital part of these rural communities. There are vast areas of ground to cover, and it's just unrealistic to think a limited number of professional stalkers are able to manage the numbers in a given period. And what with the paltry offerings from game dealers these days it would seem to be the perfect opportunity to also keep a fantastic local resource in the local area

It’s a simple enough matter to look at the income and activity generated by traditional field sports in Scotland to determine the downstream value to rural communities of the grouse, wild salmon and stag, etc., and thereafter compare it to the same model as being dictated by ’NatureScot’ - a misnomer of Orwellian type doublespeak - to see that in their book at least, the system needs to be smashed and re-modelled per their utopian fantasy. once you relaise the organisation is politically rather than environmentally motivated or working toward a sustainable future for both natives and reservation, it becomes rather clear. The city bound Natsi’s pay the piper, and they dance to the chosen tune, locals are but so many ‘useful idiots’ to them. if you happen to imagine that community stalking is sustainable, try taking a look at how it works in places where they do it, like eg Switzerland or other places, where it quickly becomes something rather different to what is being portrayed.

Haven't posted in a while but nice to see the same person offering their 5 mins of experience again, nothing like a self proclaimed Pro 
. i think its a great idea for locals to get out and stalk in a safe environment with some amazing scenery . It would be an excellent place to practice field craft shoot a few Deer without paying a fortune.

Norway has a very strong hunting culture with hunting association's taking control over the government ground.
I hope so mate , greed has about ruined stalking /fishing for the majority of working class people in respect to getting permissions , guides come in with big big dollar and that's all she wrote.
Hunting connects us to nature when done correctly.
I don't think we have an organisation thats strong enough to manage that on a Norway level.
so much hoops and politics, a system like that has a lot of very experiences stalkers with also mountain safety. foreigners can stalk but have to go through there system and money goes back to the organization larders etc..
The more I hear you say the more I want it to come to fruition.

12 members of the scheme with a broad range of abilities and experience.
Most have now completed DSC1 and ATV courses.
Some of the more experienced members have been out and shot deer unaccompanied and some have been accompanied by staff and shot deer.
All in all a very promising first season.

Ahh yes. Met them both. Roger played accordion and Calum I think was on islay. Shared many bottles in the larder with the three of them. Great pity the estate was sold and the let stalking stopped

That’s good, I wonder if other government bodies will follow suit, could be interesting times ahead.
No one cab do it as good as them either , it's just not possible.I’ve often internally remarked how some on this forum are sometimes just plain negative but…
