Community Food Trust and North Wessex Downs Landscape Trust Venison Collection Scheme

An interesting email has just popped into my inbox from the BASC so I'm posting this here, knowing that many SD have left the BASC, just in case they do not get to know about this through other means. Details are in the first picture.

Open to those culling in the North Wessex Downs Area (see second picture) this trial scheme offers collection and payment for muntjac and fallow (from 1st Nov) up to next March.

That looks fairer than what the Country Food Trust have been doing with venison previously / elsewhere.

A really thoughtful initiative with real social value and obvious ecological benefit. Great to see quality venison being properly valued too; albeit with the usual caveat. Hope it sets a wider precedent!
