It's all opinion. In the red deer culls here guys were shooting mayby 500 a year in the hey day on a fresh block so they would have to do that consistantly for ten years. That's in the biggest red deer cull there has been. I've not met any long timers like that who preach themselves up. They answer questions if asked, never blow thier own horn. The guys that do I've always found are at least half full of $iht.

I think deerstalking is hard to be an expert on, and dangerous to declare yourself such. Deer have an ability to make a mug of you, usually a second after you finish your speech on what they are bound to do .

Lads that shoot huge numbers might be doing that under a lamp off the bonnet of a hilux, which doesn’t necessarily make them especially clued up on traditional stalking: equally someone whacking a load of fallow munties darn sarf isn’t going to have much of an idea on sika in the highlands, and vice versa.

Best to remain quite and thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I agree, you have basically reformatted what I said. Your conditions in Europe are extremely different to ours down here obviously I can really only use mine as a reference but the principles are exactly the same. Whislt growing up I have had the opportunity to get knowledge from guys who shot deer for a living, guys who were spending months and months living in backblocks plying thier trade with no visits to a farm house let alone a town or villiage. When a guy says "there's nothing you csn do I haven't done" I just think pfffft, delusion. Not even those lifetime cullers say that.
