With practice quad-sticks are at least as accurate as a pod, but can be very fiddly to deploy. Probably so much free-range poultry produce to suggest now, but practice getting them set up and the rifle mounted ready for a shot. Cycle the bolt whilst doing so, with some empty cases or drill/dummy rounds. If you are grouping 2" at 100yds you will pass a DSC1 shooting test and kill deer just fine. Other than that, get as much knowledge out of your guide as you can!
Thanks chaps. Just got to get some decent binos now. I have a set of Bresser cobra 10x50 and they've always been good but wouldn't mind looking at a more compact set.
Have a look at Minox, they're compact, very well made, good glass and under £200. I've also seen very good reviews of Tom Locke at under £100 but I've not personally handled them.
Thanks lads. If I enjoy deer stalking I'm going to look into doing the DSC1. I'll have a look at those binos Paul. These Bresser binos are great just a little big and bulky for stalking in my opinion.
