very glad frenchie opened this thread :-) its being an eye opener

This thread has been a real eye opener to me too. It has given me quite a lot to talk to my doctor about. Many, many thanks to all who have contributed in so many ways!
Helping each other in any way possible is what (In my opinion) any forum should be about. If it has helped you then even better!

9 years back i had cortisone in my elbow and shoulder twice ,it nips a bit going in and throbbed through the night all pain gone in the morning ,had no bother since .

I was prescribed tramadol after damaging my back at work a few years ago. . . The pain in my back was bad but the side effects from the tramadol were horrendous. . . I was totally spaced out, stopped taking them after a few days. . . Despite only being on them for a few days I had severe headaches and the worst restless legs I've ever experienced. . . Never again.

That Diclenofac stuff strips the lining out of the gut (I find), & having AF definately risky, why my GP switched me from Piroxicam to that stuff is beyond me, so I elected to go back to the Piroxicam, A good pointer for second opinions.

I take Tramadol and Diclofenac, have done for a good while now, always take the Diclofenac on a full stomach, the only side affect I get with Tramadol is it makes me itch. Couldn't live without them and function properly.

taken tramadol for 5 years now, on and off, and agree about the side effects. However, it does work, as well as providing a cheap night out.....

I pity you having to take them for 5 years ! I've just had a complete knee replacement and been on the tramadol for the last few weeks and that is more than enough for me , I've stopped taking them and just rely on the paracetamol know as the pain subsides from the operation . I wish you well in your quest for a solution to your problem . If you do get the chance to have the op take it , the first two weeks after are fairly painful but after that it's gets slowly better .. Good luck

Take my hat off to you guys being on tramadol all that time, use to be on it myself was glad to get off it.
