Slate roof

I'm building a wood store. Ive probably made it more robust than it need be, but the frame is up and remarkable stable (and square!). I have some left over slate to use and some 19mm (thick) battens I can reuse. Are these too small? Reading up suggests they might be. The roof is about 2.4 x 2m, 250 x 500mm slates

I think u roof differently in England.

But if u were doing a slate roof in Scotland u normally sark the whole roof ( usually 6" by 18mm thick occasionally 22mm thick)
And then ud felt or membrane below that.

So I'd say ur 18mm boards will be perfect.

I think in England u battern the roofs with 2x1 ( i think) similar for tiles.
Even tile roofin Scotland are/were solid, the old way was to chip board the roof, felt/membrane and battern on top.
I think some of the big house builders now do it the english way to save money.
