Culling contractors

Just curious to know about ‘contractors’ culling deer in the UK, is this being done mainly in Scotland or/and other parts of the country?

What sort of numbers are we talking about?

You mean deer eradicators..nothing to do with deer stalkers and mainly there to make a quick buck (no pun intended) from the SNP’s regime..once the deer are gone they will move on to serve in a fish and chip shop or other I’m sure.

They do not have our nations interest at heart IMHO. They may need money/income, but don’t drink the blood of the unholy swine I say

Is a contractor someone who shoots deer for money ? If so you need to include guides, fc keepers, game keepers .

Skippydoo , its not about eradication but keeping deer at sustainable levels, your average stalker will never be able to do this. It always amazed me that stalkers talk about stalks per deer, when it should be how many deer per stalk.

A contractor is someone who works for a contracting company who comes in to do a specific job/part of a job and then goes away to do the same elsewhere. Not directly employed by the person/company that wants the job done.

It’s become eradication in Scotland Taff. The sustainable (red) deer level is now approaching a level of national emergency to save the red deer from near extinction..or will be within a few years

Get mr packham on the case, sure he would be happy to prevent near extinction of a species, if brought to his attention, so Chris if your reading this .......

Scottish deer being culled to a point "where they cannot be seen", all in the name of a ludicrous Nationalist dream of returning Scotland to the long bygone era of the Caledonian forests. More s***e to appeal to the small minded bigots that subscribe to that suicide.
Always someone willing to take the money, and that person may have good reason. We shouldn't judge the individual, but rather the instigators of the situation.

Oh right, so if that's what contractors are doing in Scotland they're clearly doing the same across the whole of the British isles! :cuckoo:

who are they though? i cant believe no one on here has been approached. cant blame any one for taking the money
Bound to be, only personally know of one who hammered on the door, jumped through many many hoops, faced rejection until finally secured a contract. Lived the dream for a few years then woke up! Why, shoot shoot shoot shoot and was not a fool.

Not saying that at all.
Looks like you are to me!

You can’t blame anyone for taking the money? Are you for real?

Depends on their circumstances Id have thought. I only know of one person approached, a Royal Marine leaving the service. Had never shot a deer in his life. Was going to be ‘given on the job training’ and being paid by his ‘friend’. Didnt take it in the end but something tells me DSC1, DSC2 and deer dog are not necessarily pre-requisites.

Clearly we’ve got some contract killers on this site
There you go again! The fact is that land owners want results and employ people on contracts to make a dent in the population. Turning up once a month to fill the freezer doesn't make the difference that they're after so the pay people to put other stuff to one side and turn up regularly. They also have a right to expect results too.

Can you back that up with figures?
