I dont like a lot of todays after market stocks but Staffordshire i would use along with Mc Millan of which i have purchased two over the years. I will fairly likely buy a small action sako 75 inlet matched to the original

I have a GRS Berserk stock on my Howa 6.5 CM and I think it's a great stock for the money, I don't find it heavy tbh and like the adjustability and the canted pistol grip. Mine came as an ex display from Ian Hodge with a brand new mod at £800 all-in so I didn't pay full RRP for the stock.
However, if I was going to go to the trouble of a custom build then I would have a custom stock made-to-measure to my own spec. In fact I am so impressed with the stock Gary Cane put on mu CZ .308 I would consider him doing the same on the Howa and selling the GRS stock. It won't shoot me any more deer, might not be any more accurate but...............it will put a bigger smile on my face

Mike kindly chopped my Sako 75 .243 down to 20" whilst I waited and with a F&D FW149 on the muzzle its light, pointable and I've fallen in love with it again
However, back to the OP. I lug a Sako S20 in 308 with a dS fitted around Scotland a lot and I wanted a lighter .308 option. After much research and looking at several expensive CF stocked rifles the Tikka T3X 20" Veil Wideland scored top of my list and all in with a 56mm Z6i on it it weighs 2/3rds of the S20 Combo! Great for woodland stalking and everything else

A 20" 308 was my stalking gun for years , it's now a 20" 6.5 creedmoor , rem700 with AICS mags , pse composites e-tac , hardy stealth moderator , killed a lot of stuff with it from 10m-600m , a short heavy barrelled gun will work in woodlands and for open hill where a really long gun isn't as suited to woodland work

Fell down this rabbit hole a good few years back.
Forget the GRS...go for a PSE...I have the multipurpose..perfect stalking stock.
Tikka T3 action 20" Bartlein 2B profile. in 7mm-08
Put together by Neil McKillop to his usual exceptional standard.
Shoots like a dream ....the other rifles barely get a look in for stalking
