CWD skin condition?

I shot a CWD the other day, all glands appeared normal, however on close inspection in the larder it had a skin condition. Looks like lots of scabs on top of each other. Covering 30% ish of the animal. Particularly rump and back areas. I partially skinned the animal and found a unknown lump on the saddle area, that didn’t correspond to the skin condition areas.

Carcass weight was 10kg.

Photos show skin condition external/internal/meat touching skin area and lump area.

Anyone got any idea on cause or issue causing this?
Carcass was disposed of just in case!

Should have said, it was a buck.

Never seen it before in 10 years but that doesn’t mean it’s not.

What's the hole bad colour on the right butt cheek Mr P.S or is it my eyes. As i said on the phone i would have said Rutting wounds or some kind of bug infestation as you done a good Node organ check 👍

Are those nodules related to that skin wound? I'd be putting TB in my list of potential reasons, so maybe send the picture to APHA.
Regardless, that picture shows more than just localised infection so I'd not be eating it.

Buchan, it certainly wasn’t eaten.

mesenteric, sub maxillary and retro phyrangeal glands were clear and looked normal. Bronchal and portal were destroyed by the bullet. Nothing gave cause for concern during the gralloch.
Attached are photos, with captions to try and explain better.

Many thanks for the help.

Thanks. Little doubt for me that there's been a pentrating injury and an infection of the underlying tissues. ONly a lab test will tell what that bacteria was/is. TB is high on my list unfortunately

I have seen rutting / fighting injuries that look like that.
Whole sections of skin removed / flayed by sharp gnashers and then an infection that mottles and affects the underlying muscle, often with abscesses where the tusks have penetrated.

The damage is usually on the back of the neck, saddle and rump.
