Hi
I would like to hear from anyone who is using a CZ 557 preferably in 308 please. Are you happy with it and if there any little quirks I should consider?

I haven't shot one but last night I was talking to one of the decent salespersons at the gun shop I frequent in the city and we were talking about the 557 as they carry them; contrasting them to they 550 and 527. He said that people who bought them were pleased. They are a very handsome rifle that probably shoot as good as they look.~Muir
 
Cheers That is where I am at with them, but I have not meet anyone who has shot one. They should be more popular than they are if they shoot as well as they appear?

CZ is never very aggressive in their advertising and frankly, there isn't a lot to recommend this rifle over another other than CZ's assurance of quality. I don't mean this as a down side, but they have reduced their manufacturing costs by doing away with the claw extractor and going with a push feed round like a Remington 700, Ruger American or Savage. It doesn't make it bad, but it is not exactly the apex of innovation. It is just a quality rifle following the design features of many others.~Muir

They have also reduced the cost to the end user, and it is an extra rifle to the range, not a cheaper replacement.
I have shot one in .243, I liked it, accurate enough with a decent trigger, I prefer it to the 550, but don't like it as much as the 527 to use.

I have this exact rifle. And wait for it......... I love it. It shoots inch groups at 100 yards with 150 gn federal power shocks. The trigger is good. The stock is very comfy and actually pretty considering its beech. The bolt is smooth. I keep telling myself I should want a sako or tikka or sauer but I can't get over the fact that actually the extra money would make so little difference it's not worth it. It's actually an elegant rifle. Comes up well and feels built for the job. If I were to change anything it would be to glass bed it as this could improve the accuracy even more but it's a stalking rifle not a target rifle so I'm not that worried about it. I have always wanted a 6.5x55 and said it would be a sako Bavarian but I saw a Cz 557 the other day for 499 and I just couldn't justify the extra knowing how good these rifles are
 
Agree with Derek on this one. I normally use the rim of a case or my finger nail but once your used to it it's no bother
