Cz457 carbon

Has anyone got any hands on experience with the cz457 carbon? I’m looking for a light weight rifle for a bit of bunny bashing, and these look incredibly cool

It's certainly a looker but I doubt very much that it will out shoot the bare bones synthetic in either 16" or 20". I have the 20" synthetic in .22WMR and it's a real featherweight providing to don't scope up with a hubble! That said, if it's a lust that you want to satisfy then go for it, what is life without a bonny rifle!

It’s 2.15kg as the synthetic is 2.5kg. I have the LRP which is 3.9kg. Which I absolutely love, but it’s not ideal for hunting- I have used it but it’s soon apparent that it’s heavy!

If I'm rough shooting and shooting free hand, I want a bit of weight in the gun to reduce sway, added stability etc. If you're tucked in a hedge with a rest, then a gun weighing a few KGs shouldnt be an issue.

We are all adults so walking with a few kegs on the shoulder isn't an issue.

Any real need to buy the carbon except for just wanting a carbon?

Are you going to be putting ultra light scope, mounts & moderator on it? If so, I'd be curious to know which ones you are going for.

I have Synthetics in both 16" & 20", and a MTR in 16", along with a spare 20" Varmint barrel, and also a LRP stock, so can play with various options.

In the field I shoot off of quad sticks, so the weight isn't really an issue. Especially as I need to drop 20kgs off of myself. And that is cheaper weight to lose, than off of the rifle.

However, if you like it, go for it! It's for you to enjoy using, after all is said and done.

Just the carbons something a bit different really. I think only 30 in the country?
Attachment wise, I’ll stick a trusty Harris 6-9” on it, sak mod, and probably the hik lite. Or possibly the new zulus

A Spartan ultra lite would probably save you more over the Harris than the carbon barrel saves over steel. But that isn't Man Maths. :)

Might try and remember to stick one of mine on the scales. Synthetic, 20" Sporter barrel, Pard Night Stalker Mini, and with/without Wildcat Panther.
