Darwin award. To me....

That's a very kind offer. Norwich might be a little far from from Dorset but I'll bear it in mind. Haven't checked the insurance yet but I'd be very surprised if it's covered. And if it is they'd almost certainly write it off as it's too old.

Not sure how a reputable insurance company would avoid paying out (provided you have comprehensive cover). The whole point of insurance is to cover accidental damage - and it was an accident, even if it was not on the public highway>

Best of luck

Check your policy. Most insurance policies will not cover off road use.

As said , at least you are alive mate,

Most accidents happen when we are under pressure , **** happens ( my head is full of scars thru rushing , and have said to myself at the time whilst leaking red stuff" Dickhead " )

Be well

Many do - NFU Mutual for one.

this highlights one of the big problems with insurance - there are 2 types of premium buyers.
Those that want cheap and just do a "Go Compare" and buy a policy that will make them legal and on the surface looks to "do the job"
Those that want insurance for the day they need it and actually read the policy detail and are prepared to pay a few extra £ to get that cover

I’m now with NFU since I got banned by Direct Swine and they (NFU) cover me off road, no problem at all. However, most insurance companies don’t. I’m very happy with NFU, they are cheap and very good cover. I have changed all my insurance policies to NFU now.

Had my vehicles with NFU for years (40+!!) and had my business with them when I was self employed.

Currently looking at house and contents insurance but they are miles off - would accept 10 or 15% extra for the service but they are double what I can get elsewhere for the same cover (and I do read policies with a fine tooth comb!)

When I first switched to them they were expensive BUT the price soon came down on renewal. You’re right to shop around though.

I don't think the car's worth claiming on even if I'm covered.
I only paid £4000 for it three years and 35,000 miles ago. They're sure to write it off and I'd be lucky to get £1500 of them. Maybe barely a grand. It's not worth having 5 years of insurance loading for that.

I've wrecked a good little workhorse for nothing really.
