Deer hide

Anyone know where I can get a fallow hide tanned? Shot a pricket and the wife likes the colour so asked if we could get it made into a rug.

If you haven’t skinned and salted it within a few hours of it being shot then it stands a high chance of the hair slipping once it’s cured.
I’ve done a couple with this kit. Definitely works but it’s a lot of work.

Not aware of any in the UK currently doing it, but you can do yourself if it is off and salted you have a bit of time, if still on once skinned roll it and get it in the freezer until you have time, I've done a couple

I used to send mine to the Welsh Organic Tannery to be done, but I think they've recently stopped doing deer skins (on account of people sending them hides in poor condition leading to excessive hair slip and consequently a ruined batch of tanning solution).
I now do my own, using K-Tan from Snowdonia Supplies. It's good stuff.

They will last if you freeze them as soon as they're skinned . Shot at this time of year ,they're changing coats , so not much good
