Deer recovery capstan winch

As Tim says perhaps try it in real world situation before making too many changes. Thanks for the advice though as I'm a mechanical engineer with basic electrical knowledge. Pulleys ,gears etc and machining more my thing.
👍 you know thing will work just how well otherwise you would have still been tinkering, when I made my deer cart it had to work as I had pulled pushed market/wheelbarrows for years. Just how well was a surprise. I put my 18 stone mate on it and never looked back.
I bet you issue will be to keep the quad from sliding and maybe a bit of rope tracking good luck.

Have just ran a test and worked out speed to be 46 rpm which with the capstan diameter at 66mm is about 9.5 meters per minute line retrieval ( not great ) . So next thought is to either increase motor speed or put a bigger diameter capstan on it to replace the FB marketplace second hand one.
According to the manufacturer's specifications, my PCW3000 only does 10m/s! Give it a try and see how you get on :thumb:

For comparison (base on manufacturers spec), the PCW5000 with the standard 57mm capstan drum achieves 12 metres per minute retrieval rate, while with the optional 85mm capstan drum it ups it to 18 metres per minute.
