Evening Gents.
Does anyone know where I can get a deer skin tanned/ turned into a rug? Preferably as close as possible to London.
Thanks

I came across them earlier, was hoping for something a little closer to home. Looks like it might be my only option. Thanks anyway

you could try posting it away to somewhere like SkySkins, Isle of Skye tannery used to do private skins.

I don't think SkyeSkins do deer hides anymore. Neither do Devonia (I don't think).

You can send it The Welsh Organic Tannery to be done. It's not cheap though, and there's quite a long lead-in time.
They've done a lot of deer skins for me.
You will have to have put some care into proper salting of the skin beforehand, though. This has to be done immediately the skin comes off the animal. Alternatively, you can freeze the skin to keep it for a while, but you will still have to defrost it and cure it properly with salt before sending it away for tanning.

To the best of my knowledge, deer hair is rather fragile and walking on the skin will easily spoil the rug. Am I wrong?
