You can send it The Welsh Organic Tannery to be done. It's not cheap though, and there's quite a long lead-in time.
They've done a lot of deer skins for me.
You will have to have put some care into proper salting of the skin beforehand, though. This has to be done immediately the skin comes off the animal. Alternatively, you can freeze the skin to keep it for a while, but you will still have to defrost it and cure it properly with salt before sending it away for tanning.
I've a muntjac on my desk chair that gets sat on daily and there hasn't BRB any slippage yet. It's been about 3 years so far whereas a reindeer rug loses hair just by looking at it
