Digital scopes, yes or no?

To be fair digital scopes are a lot better in the day than glass scopes are in the dark 😉
Quite, I like my Kahles and the Swro Z6 but refuse to guess when it is just to dark "and yes it is a guess" compared to my Alpex or Drone 10
I go with the mindset on having a result putting the same effort each time, if they don't turn up or not safe that is fine but I make sure I can see them well enough to put in a terminal shot at my intended quarry.

What about having a look through a PVS-14 tubed rear ad-on @johnylandrover, you need a Lazer IR as well, but the ones I've used on friends' rifles, you can see as plain as looking through the glass scope in daylight at 300+ yards.
They aren't cheap, but are military-grade spec, with an 8-year warranty.
You would have glass to use when you can, then click the PVS-14 on if you need to.

Have you any photos of these units and what sort of price are they ?

Have a look at the "Night Master" website, they sell them and have all the details about the various tubes available :tiphat:
Prices have rocketed over the last few years.

This was 40mins after sunset with only 20mins of legal shooting time left. My T96 would not have made this shot against a dark backdrop. You will be in black and white mode at this point as colour will go south around 25-30mins after sunset but it is still easy to aim and shoot. It was pretty murky at this point with the naked eye and I could barely see them were it not for the thermal giving the game away.

Good stuff! Yet to shoot my first Munty but guessing its common practice to discard the front end unless head shot?

Yes and no. Depends on why you are shooting them, how patient you are to wait for a specific shot and how important the meat is to you.

Me personally, i treat them like grey squirrels. I obviously don't shoot them up the arse but as soon as they present any sort of shot that will prove fatal, I pull the trigger. They are an invasive species in my view and I simply shoot them on sight. We have far too many of them on the farm and there are far more of these destructive animals than people think. Far and away the most common deer I shoot. There is little meat on the front quarter. To be honest, there isn't a great deal on the back and arse either but they are very tasty.

Texas heart shot 😅

Just been trying some thermal scopes that will come in under a grand in your money, they seem to have trimmed out all the really unnecessary like Bluetooth ( which prolongs battery life) scope levelling, ballistic calculations, but for shooting at upto 200 worked really well, I can see it selling well to possum and pig hunters, with quick release for spotting which worked well upto 400, but really a non specific detection after.
But as I don,t hunt in the dark, glass all the way for me.
On another note, using image stabilisation, do any of you get a motion sickness felling when it engages, this is on a hikmikro ?

if they are square on then behind the shoulder....however they are hardly square on
1/4 on facing head/neck

Timing is key as when they stop to feed the head up/down you can watch, I get the line then get them to lift their head.
