Dimwits on car ferries

We have ca. 40,000 members on SD So how many ignore of you the Tannoy announcments on ferries telling you not to start your engine until ship is moored and the doors are opened. I was on the Dunkirk to Dover last night and 25% of the drivers started their vehicles while waiting and it took 20 minutes before we could drive off. The poor ferry workers must be getting poisoned/gassed working on the car decks.

Every time we're away on a ferry, there's always at least one car owner that gets called to switch off their alarm. Added to that we always seem to be on ferries with loads of scooters and the stink (and sound) of two strokes is hell on earth.......

I always have a little chuckle about the scooters as nine times out of ten, you'll pass at least one getting rebuilt at the side of the road as the clubs always seem to have a useful back up vehicle with a couple of spare heads, frames, wheels, engines, seats, screens.........

Godda respect the mad buggers who will ride a 60 year old bike from one end of the country to a party at the other, (cos they can) with wheels that are the same size as those on a wheelbarrow and the potholes they have to compete with.

Just as bad, perhaps worse are the drivers and passengers who don't even think of returning to their vehicles until after the ferry has docked and the doors opened.

I totally agree ...just difficult to get 4 engineers and a load of equipment and 2 vans on a plane

Ppl are just as bad on that - starting their engines when the train stops rather than when the internal and external doors open.
Creates nice gas chamber effect!!

Easy way to save that problem is don’t go in cattle flow double-decker always have a roof box on the top go in motorhomes

I always start me engine.
How else do you get the climate control to selected level, tune your radio to all the new stations, heat the seats, blow the dog snot, farts and condensation off and out the windows, pair your phone with the new network, google the destination and set up the sat Nav?
I also need to navigate to the nearest open public area to let the dogs out for a whizz and possibly remove some evidence of their inability to hang on for nearly 3 hours.
Engine on, windows open, blowers on full, heated screens and seats all on max.
