Dirt hole set

I had some week old deer guts in my ute tray and decided to start trapping again after a lay off.
I went to an old farm track that has a few rabbit burrows in the track batter and set two traps, one in the mouth of a burrow entrance to which I pushed up some lovely smelly deer guts with the shovel handle. I then semi blocked the entrance with a stone and two mornings later voila!
As I drove over a grassy spur this morning young dog alerted me to "something ahead" 140 yards in fact. It was a yellow bitch in a trap and she had rolled in the wet red clay/earth and except for her moving I wouldn't have seen her as she was much the same colour as the earth.
She`s been scalped,i will drain her bladder and the scalp is heading into the freezer once cool to make it six @ $120 each.
Anyway there may be one, maybe two people interested enough to look at the pics of the re set.
The 'drag' is a length of grader blade with steel rods welded on either side, note in pic that one rod as initially installed is still in the ground and I was surprised that she hadn't pulled it.

A little bit of paunch content in front of the trap. Some gut showing behind the block stone.

Interesting.

Not sure if it's just the scale of the photo but have a look at the fly on the rock to the right of the trap in the first photo! It's huge!

Hi John

Ignore request for photo in previous reply to other post!

Thank you for sharing your re-start to trapping, good result and hopefully few more to come too.
Venue looks fantastic, as does the Work-Horse!
