Good for you, I’m sure you’d also like to be able to use bows, catapults and spears still too?![]()

Would be good fun to be fair - don't knock it until you've tried it. Seen videos of pig hunting with dogs - some skill needed and sharp reflexes.Good for you, I’m sure you’d also like to be able to use bows, catapults and spears still too?![]()
I'd have to disagree with you on that point, how many target or competition shooters who handed their pistols in used them for HDIf it was the safest method (small pistol) then it would be a standard across the board but it is not "A Standard" also more paperwork and all the other aspects connected. Most have not got over handing in their (pistols)Next you will want a crossbow as it is silent lol
Field sports are field sportsGood for you, I’m sure you’d also like to be able to use bows, catapults and spears still too?![]()
you are welcome, as I said "if" it was a std then then a lot would have them, but tbh I feel it would be a want more than a need.I'd have to disagree with you on that point, how many target or competition shooters who handed their pistols in used them for HD
Field sports are field sports
You’re either for them or against them I suppose
Regardless of what you count as ‘sport’, being humane is always at the forefront. Causing unnecessary suffering when there is a more humane way to kill an animal is unacceptable.Field sports are field sports

Spot on,Regardless of what you count as ‘sport’, being humane is always at the forefront. Causing unnecessary suffering when there is a more humane way to kill an animal is unacceptable.
That’s why I support Bows, Spears, Dogs etc being banned for killing animals.
You can say it’s me being against fieldsports, but in reality it’s just being mindful of ethics and utilising humane practices.

no pistols yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaso you would not recommend changing to an inferior projectile material ?
Or just being anti fieldsports.Regardless of what you count as ‘sport’, being humane is always at the forefront. Causing unnecessary suffering when there is a more humane way to kill an animal is unacceptable.

If you’re referring to copper, in my experience it kills just as well if not better than the lead I’ve used.so you would not recommend changing to an inferior projectile material ?
not really what i askedIf you’re referring to copper, in my experience it kills just as well if not better than the lead I’ve used.
148TLR out of a .300 WSM makes everything drop on the spot from my experience.
150 TTSX with .300 WSM the same.
130 TTSX in .308 the furthest I’ve had one go is 15M.
I had further runners and more mess when using lead, hence I use copper by choice!
Ben
I agree that humane practices are essential, but the tool alone doesn’t determine whether hunting is ethical. Skill, training, and the context in which a tool is used matter just as much. Banning bows, spears, or hunting with dogs assumes these methods are automatically cruel, when in reality they can be just as humane and sometimes even more humane than firearms when used responsibly.Regardless of what you count as ‘sport’, being humane is always at the forefront. My understanding is in shotguns (although I know very little about shotgun ballistics admittedly) Tungsten Matrix and Bismuth perform just as well if not better than lead.not really what i asked
would you agree that ballistically copper or steel when talking scattergun loads is ballistically inferior to lead ? i will assume you do since it's a scientific fact.
so with your concern about being humane surely changing to an inferior material would be the last thing you would consider?
i'm really not bothered in hearing what bullets you use or the calibre
I could with out doubt humanely kill a mature Red Stag out to 45 yards with this set up.Given the archery seasons in the USA and their modern bows and arrows they can and do deliver chest shots that are as humane as a rifle.
I've taken a stag at 17yrds (not in this country). They look like the dangerous game shafts? niceI could with out doubt humanely kill a mature Red Stag out to 45 yards with this set up.
If it were legal of course.
Like Gelert mentions its how the tool to end life is used.
Thing is the majority of guys on this Deer Stalking forum are shooters (gun enthusiasts).I've taken a stag at 17yrds (not in this country). They look like the dangerous game shafts? nice
The principal is the same, just the speed differsGiven the archery seasons in the USA and their modern bows and arrows they can and do deliver chest shots that are as humane as a rifle.
