Dissolving dry Nitromors

So, a couple of days ago I tried to remove the old lacquer off of my CZ 452 with Nitromors, and somehow I managed to dry it up. Now my gunstock has a rock solid layer of greenish paint remover. I've tried to remove it with wire wool and acetone/white spirit without making any progress. Is there any way to dissolve the dried Nitromors?

yes indeed! more nitromors, then hot water and a stiff bristled brush, then some 600g wet/dry and a good stock refinishing regime thereafter
To avoid lifting the grain so much skip the water and use white spirit.

Neil.

I made some progress with the advice PKL gave to me, and it's looking pretty good so far! I removed most of the solified Nitromors from the stock. Unfortunately I stumbled upon a new problem: after washing and drying the stock, I noticed that green residue had accumulated into tight spots where my brush didn't reach properly, and I'm afraid it won't dissolve with water. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

soften it again with the stripper pick out with toothpick/needle/tooth brush clean off with a little meths or white spirits then let it dry off

my favourite actually, was always to apply more nitromors on top, leave to soften, and then blast it with hot water from the shower cabin with the head set on the narrow harsh setting rather than the soft, wide, sprinkly shower...it got it out of all the cracks and crevices.

NEVER do this when the Wife is in the house!

later on I moved to clear paintstripper ;)

Yeah, I used the shower head method to remove any leftover bits of Nitromors, though I must've missed a couple of spots.

Btw, I noticed a faint smell of paint remover drifting from my stock, even though it has been sanded down. Is there a way to remove the smell, or does it fade away after time? My stock is still a bit wet from the water cleanup, so that could be the cause of it.

I tried using modern Nitromors on a Rem 700 stock ( not a hope in Hell ) ended up scrapeing with a stanley knife blade, it took 4 hours but it worked.
Modern paint strippers are Cr#p.

I'm thinking about using the blade of my knife to scrape off any excess Nitromors, but there are too many small holes where I can't reach. I'm planning to buy an old eletric tooth brush to help me get rid of this cursed green devil which has posessed my stocko_O

Not too sure about the answer to that, I only know Nitromors isn't a patch on what it used to be!
The old stuff was magical, eh? This modern eco-5h1te is a waste of time. Same goes for weedkillers...and preservatives...and fungicides...and insecticides ...and...and...and...

When I was serious about this stuff, I used to buy a specific paint stripper from a shop outside Paris, and it would take bad varnish or polyurethane stocks to bare wood in a flash...magical stuff! Still for sale I’m sure, lol! Can’t recall the name even though it was only a few years ago I bought it last time
