Do I take too much stuff with me?

I generally take:
Rifle (inc bolt etc)
Thermal / Binoculars
Knife
Dog
Sticks
Mobile
Torch if I’m out at night

I usually forget at least one of these, no idea how people manage to remember a much as they seem to

I sat out watching a couple of dens last night, no sighn of anything so, as I put my bino's in the game bag and took out the thermal and NV, I added up all the kit I had with me including cloating and boots..............FFS!!!!!!!

95% of the clobber the OP has listed can stay in the car!

All you need-
1- rifle + 5 rounds ammunition
2- sticks
3- binoculars
4- few plasters / gloves In a polly bag
5 - roe stack
6- small flask possibly?

thats it!

Nothing more needed, the rest of all that clobber you’ve got can stay in the car.

Hat/gloves/coat is extra clothing that I might not wear 😂 Rangefinder is for a bit of extra confidence in taking a shot, S hooks is for hanging for a gralloch, and I should've specified that the saw is for sternum/pelvis not for pruning back branches :p
I’d still leave the saw. If you’re needing to do that much butchering then it’s better in a managed environment, to try and keep contamination down.
The lease I shot over wasn’t great for trees to suspend a beast for gralloching. It was either back to the motor or beast on its back, so no S hooks.
Hat and gloves always came along - coat depends on time of year and weather conditions, but all are in a duffle bag with socks, boots and extra layers.
I decide what’s needed when I get to the ground.

You’ll be really annoyed when you go to start your gralloch...

Yip, I have done the same a few times when wandering about on the farm looking for foxes, when you sit down and add up all the bits, I could buy a small car Lol.

With that lot you forgot the most important thing .......A Ghillie.
Seriously though while I have a lot of the stuff you have most of it stays in the truck.

Unless people are being dropped of by a taxi/wife/mate/guide etc you will have a vehicle, over time I have worked out what to take for the 2 hr sessions I go for. Rifle 4 rounds sticks thermal (was bins) and a rope.

The rest is in the truck as at some point you have to go home...!!
Granted most of the deer I shoot are muntjac but the occasional Red/Fallow fall over so neither of those will fit in a roe sack with that option out the window.

Take as much stuff as you want but less is enough in my pocket...

And a bolt! ;)
I did this on a stalking trip , got dropped off by the stalker but left my bolt in his vehicle. Luckily where I was stalking was someone that new the stalker and was able after a fashion to get hold of him and get him to come back with my bolt. I must admit I did get a bit of ribbing about it.

Leave most of the stuff in the car and add a change of clothes to the list. Binos, rifle, ammo knife and gloves is enough of a load
