A cautionary tale...

Would someone mind putting some links to the products you carry. I had a look on the Celox website and can only see huge dressings to stem massive trauma. Or a sachet of granules with no bandage.

Do they do a sensible size unit for hand size cuts?

a couple of cheaper alternatives. the packaging probably says you must use after opening, it will degrade if unsealed so I opened it and vac packEd sections to maintain its freshness. The ex military stuff with shorter shelf life below ( eBay) might be the cheapest option.

i don’t carry one of these to use as a gunshot wound dressing, but rather small bits to stem the flow of a predictable nick or cut from gralloch ing etc which an elastoplast might struggle with. Now I’ve used it on myself I’m definitely a fan.

Good write-up Spannulman and thanks for candid post.

A timely reminder

Yes I think your assessment (as I would expect given your profession) re; a knife injury being the most likely issue is correct. (apropos your post)

As I spend a lot of R n R on offshore fishing boats, bouncing and slipping around , way offshore, often with zero help other than a suture kit if the shite hits the fan, bleeding and dressing fish etc. I have been lucky over the years with no cuts at all. But it is only a matter of time

I have, just lately , after years, started using a Kevlar glove on my left hand (knife in right hand)

I will also now be using it for all paunching, Gralloching and fish cleaning, whether offshore or on land, whether fish, fowl or even a humble rabbit at 2 am in the morning.

(OK maybe not the rabbit. Even I can manage a rabbit blindfold - after 1000's over 50 years- I should hope so , but you take my point.)
