After half killing myself carrying a collapsed 25kg lab a mere half a mile of so, I now always take one of these when in hills (in fact it’s so light pretty much anywhere when I have a dog). Not the most comfortable thing to have to use, but better than my experience of the alternative…

Not in a belt, but in a day bag - yes…. It’ll squash down too a bit - never compressed it but sure a (v) small compression strap like on a sleeping bag would take it down a fair bit further than its normal size. I would certainly recommend it. Never had to use it for its intended use thankfully, but practiced lifting up a dog. Carrying for a distance would not be comfortable (straps would dig into shoulders quite a lot - they are not well padded….) but it would make what would be an otherwise potentially impossible situation feasible.
The Fido pro wasnt available when I needed one. One of my Springadors wont climb open staircases. I one year rented a holiday accomodation with open wooden stairs and, whilst the other one went up and down like she owned tbe place the boy just wouldnt do it.
I bought him one of these and he had no objections to either wearing it or being carried.
Still doesn’t even tho’ hes old and arthritic!
