Donor rifle suitability

Can a 6.5X55 T3 be used as a donor for a .223 build? I know the bolt faces are different sizes but can the 6.5X55 be down sized safely?

It probably can but the bolt face would need to be pushed, a new extrator added and the plunger (not sure if a T3 has one) adjusted to fit. Thats a lot of work.

You would be better off either rebarrelling to 22 Creedmoor or 22-250 or getting a T3 in 223.

I went for the getting a T3 in .223, I had a good offer for the 6.5X55.
