Just a curiosity question really, just wondering if the rabbit hole ends

Soooo been shooting awhile started with shot guns never wanted rifles..... Well that didn't last long, naturally I went onto the .22lr started with a CZ 455 .22lr with interchangeable barrels. I was happy with this shooting rabbits ect and then realized I can get the .17hmr barrel so started to look into what the round was like and the more I read the more I thought hmmm I want one of those so I did lol I went out and found a second hand .17hmr barrel so obviously had to swoop that over and give.etjat ago and I loved it lol, what a cracking little round and I was happy ....... I then got a letter through my door talking about renewals of the shotguns and do I want to join them together and at this point I thought well if I'm renewing the firearms as well why not check another gun so applied for a 243 and got permission for a .243 so I went and bought the Remington 710 .243 (well the wife bought it for me). To be fair not fired it that much but love the round I then felt really I should have something in-between the .243 and the 17hmr soooooooooo along came the 17 hornet lol (again the wife bought it ) I'm now in to reloading and also been thinking about bullet moulds and looking into making and casting lead rounds and seen you can swage old .22lr Casings into brass jackets ect ...


Long story short
At what point do you stop thinking about guns and reloads and then casting your own bullets and even casting and reloading 22lr for fun all this and that's before going in to night vision and thermal and ghillie suits and ...
I feel I'll end up with a divorce lol

Don't worry.
 
Don’t worry, once you are done with reloading you will into building and restoring guns. Which of course will need a workshop etc. etc.

Hahahahah I have always wanted an old defender lololol ow God here we go lol altho if I end up with my own little farm and shooting land that be great lol
 
Hang in there (upwards of 30-years could be on tbe cards) and all will come good. Trust me!

The first green shoots of recovery from this addiction will be the desire to own a stutzen, followed closely by covetous glances at you Wife's loden cape - the one inspired by Meyrl Streep in the French Lieutenant's Woman.

Personally I have never been caught up with the "I need more guns" I worked out what I needed but understood there might be a change as the first rifle was moved into NV.
Same with my hand tools (socket's/spanners) I went down the Snap-on route because of the warrantee, only buying essential stuff then adding more kit as the space on cars became tighter so I would buy stuff to cover those parts.

This year I have shot more deer with the NV rifle in the "last hour" than I could with my glass scoped rifle as I have chose to
shoot shorter but more frequent sessions also the way deer come rarely do I get a second or third except muntjac.

The truth is you can only carry one rifle at a time comfortably so I only take one!

How many times in the sales section " I have too many coats" (with tags) :rofl:

People have a shot gun for rough shooting one for clays one for wildfowling and one for driven and still miss lol

Have what you like but you (practically) only take out one at a time :doh:

This is very true altho my boys are now coming of age were I'm teaching them to shoot so it does help to have more than one rifle now, as far as my rifles go I'm pretty set with the .243 the 17 hornet and the 17hmr and again shotguns have my late grandad's old u/o biakal 12g I do have fac semi auto and looking at getting a little 20g for the boys, my minds now crossing over from thing I want to things they need now lol
 
Tim's comment fails to recognise a very important distinction in one's choice and acquisition of rifles & accoutrements. Namely, are they to be:

a. Tools
b. Toys

The latter sets no limit upon imagination and desire beyond disposable income.

Just ignore anyone that tries to cure your shooting illness by trying to get you to listen to common sense and good reason. That time has passed for you now 😁

I am currently experiencing such a desire... However, if realised, it will only drag me deeper... new dies... more load development... a nice loden Blitzfutteral! How is this a way out!?
