I’m looking for a trip this winter for driven wild boar.
As an ex agent I know the prices vary dramatically, so looking for sub £2k with plenty of opportunities but also a craic with the locals and good team.
Any recommendations?
A sub £2000.00 driven hunt, with "plenty of opportunities" is an ask, unless you're only doing two days, AND you're very lucky.
Cheap hunts are often local club, or association hunts, where foreigner hunters are sold days for what seems a reasonable price (£200.00-£300.00) a day, where the locals will pay €50.00 or less. You will find that there will be 20 + hunters, and the locals keep themselves to themselves.
Boar numbers are generally low, and it's not uncommon for the local hunters to be given the best pegs !
That said, you can be lucky. I did one hunt with roughly 40 hunters, one boar was shot all day, and it was my first ! Another hunt, was still my best to date, I shot 9
George runs legitimate hunts, some top end, and very expensive, but they produce very high numbers, but he also does two day hunts for about your budget, but lower numbers.
