Driven hunts.

Our group of four off to the Pfalzerwald again, on the ninth for a weeks driven Boar, flying Easyjet this time due to the tunnel troubles, shooting the Winnie with 165 GMX's, leaving the .270 to sulk in the cabinet,.

Sounds great finnbear.

Lots of preparation gone into the rifle side of things, swapped out the scopes from 270 to the win mag, making another visit to WernDdu range necessary,:D, (any excuse to go shoot!), The 165g GMX's are shooting sweetly on anything from 72 grains to 74 grains N160, considering the dot in the scope was covering the aiming marks, getting 0.75 groups has to be enough for the running stuff.

Leaving on sunday for 4 days on the Boar and some cull stags, Hunting in Croatia in the Podravlje area and staying in the Monjoros lodge.

Off to Czech on Sunday for 4 Days on Boar, Deer and out with the Eagles be nice to spend some time with friends again

anyone have any good driven boar trips they could recommend

What was a great trip for the lad who got shooting on every drive was to the lad 3 pegs down the line who didn't see a damn thing all weekend a useless trip.
The trip that gives the best value IMHO is where you pay for what you shoot amongst the group. Something like 1-5 boar €100 each per day,6-10€200 etc etc but it maxes out at €350 per head for 25 plus boar per day. That's the deal we work on anyway.

My first trip this year to Hungary under my belt already.
17 pigs and 9 Red Hinds over two days so not a bad trip, I'm now looking forward to my next trip, again to Hungary in January.

Any more reports?
Some got rebates of £250 because they didn't see a pig but they enjoyed themselves just the same, probably due to the cheap booze and photo bombing ;-)

Looks like a great day. Is there a fine for the white spotty one!:-D

Well spotted
There was no fine for shooting the white cross breed . They where a very common sight 10 or more years ago partly due to cross breeding of wildboar and fearal pigs during the civil war .
Now they cull them on sight as they do not want the wildboar blood line being corrupted.
The bag for the day was 17 boar.

Yes, a few were shot when I was in Croatia a few years ago. I didn't know the full history of them so thanks, interesting.

Here, where I live and hunt in the USA, wild boar of German and Russian bloodlines moved from the mountains, down the river channels, when new reservoirs forced them out of their refuges. Then, a huge hurricane toppled trees, knocked down pens, and released domestic swine and fenced areas with wild boar, which interbred with some of the migrating wild pigs. The populations exploded. So we run into totally wild European strains, purely feral, and cross breeds of the two.
