Probably fed up with advice by now but I will throw in my 2 pennies worth.
I have a Zeiss victory 1.1-6 on my 9.3x62 for boar. This has a simple red dot in the centre. The reason for 1.1 is that you can, in theory, shoot with both eyes open and just follow the red dot onto the boar. I almost always use this set at 1.1 mag as driven boar in forest are close and no need for magnification. I could be persuaded to go for a simple red dot sight but occasionally I stalk both boar and Roe, then I like to have the 6x.
If you can get used to shooting with both eyes open ( I am struggling to do this) then it gives much better field of vision and you can keep track on all that is happening. I believe 1.1 in European scope is same as 1 in US ones - technical ways of measuring. I doubt a 2x or more will allow both eyes open.
