Driving Conviction - Will I Lose FAC/SGC?

Much depends upon the Police force, but there is a good chance that you may be offered a driver improvement or driver awareness course. Taking this course is an alternative to prosecution and will not result in any points as long as you attend the course and actively take part in it, don’t fall asleep or gob off etc.
I am almost certain you will have to declare that you did the course at your next renewal but this is preferable to a conviction in court and points which with that conviction code will increase your car insurance premiums for the next 5 years.
Wait and see what response you get from the Police. The guys at the pepipoo forum will be able to offer help before you respond.
My partner was involved in a minor RTC last year which the other party supplied their dashcam footage to the insurers, blaming my partner. The dashcam footage actually proved that the other party was responsible for the RTC.

Like most other things related to firearms - there is no rhyme or reason, I know one person that received an assault charge during an altercation with another motorist and kept his license, I know someone who had their cert revoked due to a domestic disagreement with no physical altercations - basically a bad argument.
You can flip a coin and that’s about as accurate.
Did the FLO get some action the morning he looks at this - you may get away with it…:

People will tell you the powers that be are impartial - but it’s nonsense and a proven fact that outcomes depend on the frame of mind of certain people in most cases.

I think it should depend on the circumstances.
Blowing 42 the next morning (35 is the limit, but needs to be 40 to prosecute) is one thing, blowing 150 after driving home from a pub crawl is a different mindset.
One could be argued as an accident, the other is deliberately disregarding the law.

An error in judgement can be a mistake - people make silly mistakes throughout their lives, your suggestion was to ban them for life for these, which is ridiculous - half the sh*te people do in their teens and twenties does not define the person they will always be.
If you did nothing wrong when driving in your teens or twenties you were either very boring or you are whiter than white…
It’s only really in the last 25-30 years that drink driving has become as unacceptable as it is - plenty small villages had locals driving from the local pub to home after a few back then - not right but to deny it would be nonsense, it’s the reason many rural pubs have died a death as it is so much more frowned upon now.
Sort of nerd with friends all over the world just none in his street

I got caught doing 127 mph on the M6, outcome was 6 points and a £300 fine. I spoke to BASC before the court case about whether a ban would have an effect on my SGC/FAC and they said the police couldn’t refuse my renewal but worst case scenario would be a lecture about my actions and suitability to possess guns/rifles.

I’d say a lifetime driving ban and revocation would have been about right for that. There’s families with kids and on those roads.
Enough said, but I bet you’re already not too proud of it

If there were any 'extenuating' circumstances, I would love to hear what they were.

I don’t think there was any special extenuating circumstances.
My barrister argued that there was quite some time since my last motoring offence which was minor, the inability to do my job without a licence due to the remoteness where I live, this was during covid and the motorway was exceptionally empty in fact I was the only vehicle in the picture.
In modern cars 100 mph or more really does not seem fast, I’m not trying to boast I admit I was in the wrong but a long day coupled with a quiet motorway I put my foot down to get home and got caught, poor judgement on my behalf.
However I did contact BASC to discuss as I thought I was going to loose my licence. However that was not the case.
