Drone (flying one not scope)

I must admit without the FedEx I would be 100% certain it’s a scam, but that has got me baffled. Still following this thread closely because I wouldn’t mind a cheap drone…
I think DJI more or less dictate the prices at which the units and combinations are offered for sale, though some reputable U.K. sources offer eg SD cards in with a bundle to sweeten the pill.

On FedEx tracking says mine was now delivered last Friday supposed to be next Wednesday. Signed for by I. Morgan .Who FFS is that 🤷😡. I been in the borders since Thursday. No one called I. Morgan is at that address or next door either side of me.
Will contact FedEx tomorrow

In my experience what happens when a business is new is the payment platform will retain the money until tracking information is entered which confirms that the customer has received the goods - this is a feature to stop scam sellers from 'selling' items they have no intention of sending.

How soon after ordering did you receive tracking info ? I ordered 6 days ago - no tracking info yet . Payment by CC went to Mollie *666Covers which doesn’t look promising.

I would suggest the link previously in the post is pulled just in case anyone like me reads to a certain point, thinks what a great idea and then orders.

@wytonpjs

could you edit your post to remove the link I think you were the first to send it? Of course theres still no proof this is a scam, just seems a bit suspect.
Andrew

I cannot edit the thread once post but @csl has kindly added a very visible warning to my OP.

We have agreed that we will wait out the scheduled delivery and update accordingly.

Thats great. Fingers crossed we havent all been duped but it doesnt sound promising. I havent even received any tracking info 🤔

I have spoke to FedEx this morning. Yes the delivery was made to a different address to mine.
I could only get the post code off him which puts it somewhere on wrexham industrial estate
It was sent from British Columbia.

It seems that you can put an intercept/reroute on FedEx parcels, and this is a manual process that doesn't show on tracking for about 5 days.

I think I have worked out how they are doing the Fedex tracking bit. If you take the Fedex tracking number you have been given and put it into the Fedex tracking website but change the last digit you can look up the next Fedex tracking reference. You can look up lots of tracking numbers on the site and if they are not actual tracking references they will return a message that says

"No information for the following shipments/FedEx® Office orders has been received
by our system yet. Please try again later or contact Customer Service."

However, if the tracking number is for an actual Fedex shipment, it will show you the details for that shipment, including the recipient city. Then you can click on it to see the progress of the shipment. There is no login or other authentication needed so you could just write a piece of code that looks up consecutive number on the website and returns the details for each one, put them in a database and search it when you got an order for a drone to find a reference with a destination city that matches the buyer's city. So the buyer is looking at tracking info for a genuine shipment going through Fedex to their city but it is not for the buyer it is for some random stranger who is getting something real shipped through Fedex to the same city. This would explain why it takes a day or two for the drone company to send tracking info. They are looking up sequential Fedex numbers until they find one in the same destination city.

I reckon this is definitely a scam and when I look up the Fedex tracking number I have been sent it is due to be delivered by 18:00 today. I will be absolutely stunned if it arrives as no-one else's has.

If it's come from outside the UK. Duty when coming should be paid. In the past DHl have asked for custom payment .

Reading your post.
That could be why it was delivered on the 24th to Wrexham
Not on the 29th.
See if any turn up

I've just phoned my bank and they have opened a dispute and credited me with the funds. I have had no correspondence at all, not even the fake tracking as some of you have had.

Wonder who foots the eventual bill for this stuff?

My FedEx tracking details has my exact address on it - whilst I see what you suggest could be a possibility, how are they getting my details into FedEx's system? I got another email update this morning and all of the links on it are genuine FedEx as is the sending address. Unfortunately (and perhaps not unsurpringly) I had a manic first day back at work today after holiday compounded by a telephone from my FEO this lunchtime, followed by him coming around this afternoon to interview my youngest about his initial grant of a FAC - all went well and it looks possible to get a mirror of mine. I did not get chance as a result to call FedEx today and I have a full on remote work day tomorrow so I'm going to see whether anything arrived as advertised on Wednesday. I'll update last thing then and wholly expect to be talking to FedEx Thursday!

I posted above. A quick Google shows a redirect scam is quite common with FedEx. The scammers book a shipment to you, FedEx collect it from the scammer, then the scammer uses the details they have to basically tell FedEx they're you and redirect the package.

FedEx redirects reportedly don't show on the tracking system for a few days

A bit different to mine. Mine just has the postal town on it.

That would explain it.

My tracking info from Fedex is now showing it as having been signed for this afternoon by someone with a completely different name to me. I have tried to report it as a missing package but it doesn't recognise my address so I can't do it. It would make sense if they had redirected it as then presumably I would need to put in the address they redirected it to.
