DSC1 & small game meat hygiene

Hi,
did the small game meat hygiene course at BASC in Marford on Wednesday.
Really good course run by Nick. Very knowledgeable and gives good advice.
Booked onto DSC1 next march.
There’s meat hygiene in this but wasn’t considering DSC1 when I booked the small game course.
I’ve got a stalk booked in Crieff in a few weeks with a professional stalker who knows I’m a novice and is happy to introduce me to stalking. Hopefully get a few more stalks before I do the DSC1.
There was another guy on the course from Ludlow who’s been a gamekeeper for years so loads of experience with small and large game. He’ll fly through his DSC1 & 2, whereas my journey will be a bit slower linked to some good experience with some time served stalkers.

I already had the large game from my DSC1 but wanted small game as well, so I did the NGO 1 day course, that gives you both small and large game. It's a good day

Just small game. Found it interesting so hopefully DSC1 meat hygiene should be a bit more familiar

It should be interesting but won’t get you your large game trained hunter status. Personally I would have done it at the same time as the small game one, bit of a missed opportunity.

Could always just do DSC2 one witnessed stalk that now comes with trained hunter status?

I’m far from being a “trained hunter” so best route for me is DSC1, stalks, gralloching, butchery etc then DSC2.
