DSC2 moves to ePortfolio

Thats as maybe but its not required at all for any legal reason only LANTRA Large game meat hygiene cert is and only to sell to a game dealer you dont need DSC1 at all

lack of take up of DSC2 from DSC1 holders the reasons are fairly obvious its fairly expensive (the DMQ fee not AWs etc ) and unless you need to get a shoot ie Forestry commission who insist on it you dont need it to hunt

You are in Devon so not entirely the same but to assume it existence is based on legal requirement is to miss the point of the DMQ

if the ongoing uptake of voluntary qualifications relating to deer management are not demonstrated by industry bodies, DMG's, Private or Public bodies/individuals involved in the "venison industry" then a review of the sector could easily result in mandatory testing and assessment BEFORE any stalking can be done
The WANE Bill is very clear on that. We may well have passed the 2014 first review point but this is an unregulated food industry
three words that most governments get very twitchy about

".....to ensure that such knowledge and skills arefully engaged in competence testing through development of Deer Stalking Certification(DSC) and Deer Management qualifications (DMQ). It is up to us and other landmanagement colleagues to make the voluntary system work, otherwise we may face thepossibility of mandatory testing........."

In short, if the DMQ don't up their game and get many more people involved at the higher level then we may ALL face a test
And I bet my shorts it will be different to the DSC1/2

why have a review and then recommend the same assessment when you can recommend "the new DSC2" and everyone has to do it from scratch?!

Dom I think the reason is to cover the costs of going E I don't think it Dom I know it we were told at the assessors education day.

I applied to BASC last week, yesterday whilst buying ammo I got a phone call from them saying they were going electronic and did I mind waiting a week whilst they get their heads around the system. Mentioned it to the RFD and another client said "well I'm giving up as AW, they won't give me a computer":???:, another chimed in "me also but I am BC - Before Computers- anyway" So I'm down 2 potential AW's before I start:suss:. I wonder if this is going to be a trend, if it is then surely it defeats any advantage of computerisation? How does one become an AW? experience, qualification or what? Possibly we may need to 'acquire' more AW's.

You should have received an email from DMQ on 2nd Oct?
It gave details of the new system and links to guides for AW's.

Effectively, the AW does not actually use the 'Onefile' system at all!
The AW merely fills out the ICR form in my top link above and then emails it to the Assessor - that's it!
Should be a simple process which will reduce the amount of work for the AW. The workload of the Assessor does appear to have increased though.

Cheers Mick,

Now back in the land of wifi and have read the email properly.

All looks good fun. Onefile is a good system.
