Will be interesting to see the responses.
Mrs Gunn normally wears Phonak hearing aids, which are designed to amplify sound, but takes them out when picking up and wears Peltor SportTac shooting protection, which is designed to attenuate sound.
The former are tuned to boost sounds according to her particular hearing requirements, the latter provide 26dB of noise reduction.
Wearing both, or expecting both amplification and attenuation from the same device, might seem contradictory, but having worn noise-cancelling AirPods that have a remarkably effective “Transparency Mode”, you’d think it can’t be beyond modern capabilities. Also the latest upgrade allows AirPods to double as hearing aids.
The challenge with shooting is that it is typically a very loud noise for a very short length of time - and asking a device that is worn throughout the day, every day, to cater for this might not be economically viable, given the relatively small market.
