Editing timeout

Can we please get rid of the 15 minute editing time limit? My keyboard is causing me problems and sometimes loads posts before I have finished them. I go into edit to continue them and the timeout stops me loading the changes and I end up with a non-sensical post that I can't change.. (it happened again just now in the Packham thread).

Or if you make a factual mistake or inadvertently post some personal information, once the time limit has elapsed there's nothing you can do about it. It's maddening and I can't see what useful purpose it serves.

I agree. Changing this would allow people to delete/amend a post after the thread has been running for a while, rendering subsequent replies nonsensical.

I'm on lots of forums. I don't know of any other that uses this timeout and they seem to work alright.
If you spot something after the fifteen minutes that makes no sense or you don't want on there, you've got to go pestering a mod to get it changed.
In my experience entire posts rarely get deleted, just edited, usually so the thread makes more sense, not less.

If there must be a timeout at least make it one hour, or maybe a day, in case you suddenly think of something and so other people have had a chance to see if you've made a mistake and respond.

Exclude items for sale. Leaving the limit on them stops changing what price was agreed/accepted with the bonus of if a price is reduced you actually see the price comming down each time!

When I've posted things for sale, if I drop the price I'll make a fresh post with the new price to draw attention to the fact, rather than just edit the original post. If people pass up the item because they didn't like the price they're unlikely to go back to the first post to see if it's gone down but if the OP adds another post they might go back in and have another look.

I think it's appropriate to have a time limit for editing, but it should be 2 hours, in my opinion. In particular with articles and write ups, where "proof reading" a post may show up some errors and typos that need correcting.

The time out is a pain, even simple things like spelling, you notice the mistake the next time you read it, too late.
What about those who post something and then think better of it ?
All the present system does is complicate things for everyone, I mean who really care if someone deletes a post mid thread because they have re-thought it, or even heaven forbid, changed their mind.
