I'm looking to buy a new shieth for my swingblade (great knife - crap shieth)

Is there a leather guy on this forum who has made any? Or know of best place to buy one.

Thanks

Yeah Ash243 makes them.

I got a leather one of him about six months ago and it's a really good sturdy well made sheath, it was about £30 I think.

If you go to his profile I think there is a link to his website. I went for the cross draw sheath but I really wish I'd just got a standard one, nothing do do with the craftsmanship it's purely because having a knifein pushing against the small of your back when in the pick up is a pain in the hoop.

Thanks for the info.

I've had a look at his site and the picture does not show any "knife holding strap". Does the tight fit hold it in safely?

What do you mean about "cross draw" .... Is it a shieth what holds the knife horizontal rather than vertical?
Thanks

Sorry, yes cross draw is a horizontal sheath running along your belt. There is no retaining strap, the sheath is a tolerance fit and but worry mine has never even hinted at budging nor do I think it ever will. But even though it's a tolerance fit it is still easy enough to draw from. The leather has got a little more supple recently and it now looks a like the knife has been shrink wrapped in leather! The leather is about 4-5mm thick.

This is what the sheaths look like:

Perfect...
Just ordered one from our friend ash243.
Thanks for the image of the knife in the sheath.

I'd put a photo of mine up but I'm busy bobbing around the sea for the next week and a half, I'll see if her at home will take a picture!

Mine looks a tad better than that one although sometimes it's hard for a photo to do it justice. Mine has leather stamping (for want of a better word) between the two rows of stitching down the seem and it also has my initials stamped on it.

I think Ash243 did a lovely job and it's a shame we haven't seen him on the site for such a while. Not to sure if he will but he should!
