Electronic ear defenders

Time for some new defenders. My electric ones have gone past there life expectancy. I would like a pair that do not give a continued buzzing or electrical sound. Prefer also when I am speaking it’s more natural than electronic. Have done a search and can see Peltor sport tac, Tactical sport, and ProTac 3 hunter. Have dismissed Howard Leight as the reports I read sound lick the very electronic.

Protec hunters currently at the top due to price, thought and advice please
Thanks David

I have shot with msa sordin supreme pro x for years. My hearing is quite bad from a cycling accident so I try to look after what I have left... In fact I wear them all the time stalking as you can have sort of bionic ears with them set on magnification quite handy.
get the gel ear pieces too

Having used the Peltor Tac and MSA Pro-X for many years, I agree that both are excellent offerings.

The only thing that I can find to better them (currently) is the newer Swatcom Active8 range.

The sound quality is exceptional and the on/off and volume functions are quicker. Gel pads as standard. The neck strap version is great for rifle work.

I got a set to trial when they first appeared in the UK.Good kit and worth the expense. Not many electronic duffs are really all that waterproof either, these are. I’ve used them in some fairly bleak conditions.

I can recommend Radion blue tooth. I can hear a mouse fart at a 100yds! That said I only use them when I’m using my shotgun.

Have you considered in ear electronic defenders? The 3M Peltor EEP-100 EU are brilliant I think.

About double the price, but more than double the level of protection at 32-38dB (10 times the sound energy and double the perceived volume reduction) and much more convenient in use compared to the 26dB Protac 3 Hunter over-ear ones.

I’ve had Peltor sportac for years and love them. They take everything I can throw at them and still work without trouble. Had Howard Leights before and they were nowhere near as good. Glad I lost them and replaced with peltor now!

I use Cens Digital for most of my shotgun shooting and MSA Sordin Supreme Pro for rifle shooting. If you are after over ear types, I would highly recommend the MSA with Gel cups. They are comfortable and slim line.
