The general licences for bird pest control in England have been extended today by Defra and are now valid until 31st December 2020.

BASC continues to work with Defra in response to the legal challenge to the general licence system and we continue to lobby and provide evidence for a fit for purpose and future proofed licensing structure.

The English general licences were extended for a further 6 months with no changes - which BASC lobbied for.

In Wales - BASC has made a formal application to court to become an interested party in Wild Justice’s judicial review challenging the general licences that have been issued by Natural Resources Wales.

Meanwhile, BASC continues to gather the evidence for its case together with its legal team.

The current Welsh general licences are valid until 31 December 2020.
