I could have walked the 30 miles from home to the UPS depot in Glen gormless and back and still would have been quicker.

When it’s open you can’t see your feet
And the case is either closed or open with the flap protruding at 90 degs. Which might seem an odd comment but imagine you see a deer open bino pouch to get Binos out and the deer moves a bit so you want to switch postion, but keep your Binos in hand. By not being able to see your feet you risk making noise by treading on something at the most critical moment.
No it folds down and locks down in place until you want to close it.
