No, they don't. And no, they don't. The vapour recovery system merely prevents the escape of fuel vapours, to reduce the likelihood of creating an explosive atmosphere. The vacuum side of the fuel pump draws the vapour back through the nozzle before any fuel actually leaves it, so the fuel you pay for is the fuel you receive.
I used to design fuel pumps for Tokheim, incidentally
Admittedly there are different forms of stage II recovery (including return of those vapours to the sites petroleum storage tank) but for the sake of argument;
5.22 Alternative vapour recovery systems may be used, in which petrol vapours are recovered at the dispenser and returned direct for re-sale.

Whilst stage II PVR may also assist in reducing the risk of a flammable atmosphere, it’s primary purpose under permitting requirements is the reduction of pollution hence why it is typically only required for stations with a higher petrol throughput. Stage I sites only require PVR in relation to unloading into site storage tanks from bulk tanker.

Maybe I am too stupid about this but I just do less miles in a cleaner and more economical vehicle. I would never go electric and the astronomic price of secondhand 'normal' cars during a huge 'normal' fuel crisis seems to suggest others are also 'sceptical'. ANY new development is ALWAYS a means to make more money, in this case from the gullible 'woke' brigade - so electric cars have some merit.

Yes.
And the current price hikes are going to get us all there very quickly.
It becomes a circular reality that reduced supply of affordable energy delivers higher cost of living which begets strike action until more inflationary easement destroys wealth further.
Rinse and repeat until our banks are empty and we beg for social credit.
Feels like a societal reset...now where has that phrase been used before?
I'll be in Perthshire tomorrow shooting clays (badly !!!) and might just take them up on the offer after we finish

Recently work swapped my 1.3 Diesel Corsa van for a 1.8 petrol hybrid Corolla van. The corsa used to give 64+ mpg, the Corolla gives 59….one is green and the other isn’t. Apparently

It's pathetic really isn't it?
There isnt the worldwide capacity to mine lithium to even replace the UK car sales annually.
Its an expensive toy for those who can afford it, with taxpayer subsidy naturally, and they are good to drive but they arent the answer for the average person.
Certainly not the answer for rural folk (or anyone who needs on on road parking) and it just moves emissions to power stations.
