hi guys. i need some advice.im thinking of buying a small press evo or harells,it would be used for ,22.250 and ,17 fireball.im fed up of lugging my big press from house to workshop,i dont like to leave my kit in the workshop you see.any advise on the right one for me please? cheers.mark

Probably made your choice by now but, the EVO press is excellent and very well made. A square edged bench easier to use as an attachment base.

hi.thanks for the insight.i havnt got an evo yet.i just make do with an ancient redding,i will get one eventually no doubt.i just restocked with bullets powder primers and cases so not priority at the moment.i will keep an eye for a used one i think.cheers snorky.

hi muir.i really dont know how old.its a 7-1 theres not a lot of info on google.one thing i find strange is if you back the die off so no contact with shell holder.the ram will travel up past top dead centre and cycle again.if that makes any sense?i can and do fl and seat on the press but i find it strange.i used to use a simple lee press up and down.simple.cheers.mark

I’ve a variety of presses that I have travelled with when competing (historically)

The Harrels compact is good - but limited in case size

Easier to travel with a RCBS and workmate with a inch thick board to mount the press to for larger cases

Not sure if bother with the expense of the press you’ve mentioned

I’ve found all but the cheapest will produce repeatable match grade cases when set up correctly

Spend the excess elsewhere on something that’s worthwhile

hi Ronin.i load 2 calibers. .17 and .22/250.ive never really got on with my redding press.what would you recommend? i can and do load what i think is good accurate ammunition but the press pains me.so time for a change i think, cheers Ronin.

The Harrels compact is perfectly adequate for these sized cases

So is the RCBS Rockchucker which produces extremely good consistently sized cases in everything I shoot

If you can stand the peripheral flannel there’s a content creator called Gavin Tube on you tube who goes under the guise of ultimate reloader (and become an expert in a matter of minutes )

Howver he does and has produced some nice videos one of which was a single stage press “test”

Worth a watch
